Summary: Excellent resource handbook.
This book was very helpful in my search for answers when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. My grandmother also had this disease — I was the only caregiver for both women. This book explained the disease thoroughly and it’s effects on others. Like most mental illnesses, when a person has this, other people tend to avoid the patient, and also the caregiver. You feel isolated and lonely, frustrated and sad. Since the disease gets progressively worse, one of the feelings you experience is grief. You grieve for the person you are losing, even though many times the person is still vital and active physically. This book was a great help in explaining the many facets of Alzheimer’s disease. I highly recommend this book to anyone facing this disease.
